ITS UP TO YOU
This is officially the official unofficial music video. 'Its up to you' whether you watch it, like it, share it, bop it, twist it, love it. We bees hope you enjoy! Big thanks to Sam the Man from tropic roots for recording a demo EP of our tunes.
THE ZEPHYRBIO
The Zephyrbees and their ever-growing collection of groovy reggae-punk jams have people sticking like honey wherever they go. Straight outta Honeytown, Far North Queensland, the ‘Bees combine a diverse range of sounds and genres to create a distinct ear-pleasing buzz that is entirely their own, with each member bringing a unique musical style to the Zephyrbees sound. Collaborating on their broad musical upbringings and backgrounds allows the ‘Bees to keep fresh honey coming out of the hive. With influences stemming from all corners of the musical globe – from reggae and punk, to funk and hip-hop, just to name a few – its difficult to put these ‘Bees in a box, and that’s just the way they like it.
With a stockpile of 'Sweet Honey' The Zephyrbees aim to record and perform their catalogue of music around the word. The force is strong with this hive and their songs hold important, thought provoking messages that really buzz home. The band of bees have their aspirations set for spreading the importance of global issues such as sustainability, mindfulness and of course having fun. The ‘Bees main goal is to have good times with good people. From a laidback bumble that will have you groovin’ with good vibes, to an all out rock ‘n’ roll sting that will have you stamping and screaming along “I JUST WANNA LOVE YOUUU” as beads of honey-sweat fly off your face. Feel the buzz and join the Zephyrbees swarm.
“If The Strokes went to a party at Kurt Cobain’s house, drank too much cheap beer and listened to Toots & The Maytals records until the sun came up.” – The Honeytown Herald

BEES MAKING HONEY
We all share an undeniable passion for creating music and it is so fulfilling for us to have reached a state where we have written albums worth of tunes we all love. All members of the band partake in the development of our songs and our hive mentality is an effective tool in creating masterpieces. It's a joyous reward to write together because we all give each other limitless freedom to express ourselves. There is no pressure to make decisions so we never have disputes or loose our focus and direction. There is always something new to learn from each other and in that process we develop our own style
Inspiration is the key for visualising our songs. We are all very conscious bee-ings who are devoted to manifest positive changes on a global scale. Thomas and Joshua are both quick to manifest ideas and once the foundations are laid its straight to the hive to vibe it out and see what flows. It comes in spurts for Thomas who says 'I can write a full EP in 2 days but inspiration may only be there once or twice a month, the beauty of playing with other writers is that inspirations there all year round'. The years of songwriting have paid off for us and if we feel like theres nothing jumping out we look through Thomas's insanely large catalogue and we never fail to find something to work with.
The creative process is very much unrestricted and we enjoy experimenting, jamming and forming ideas from worldly chats. Sometimes we create rhyme games or ask friends to pick letters that will form the progressions. We prefer to write from positivity and often work with lyrics that motivate or inspire change and reflection. Thomas says 'I use song writing as a form of meditation and personal development. It's great to keep things light hearted even if the song highlights serious issues'. Having developed strong relationships we respect each others perspectives and are open to new ideas, interpretations and criticism.
Having open mindedness in our musical craft also has allowed our arrangement to change quite a lot. Joshua, Rowan and Thomas play a variety of instruments which gives more freedom to add elements and explore what sounds good for each composition. We love to have fun on stage and reviewing and experimenting on our performances allows us see what works best for us and our fans. The great thing is that we share a vision and whether its reggae, punk, rock, pop, jazz or hip-hop we all find pleasure creating that visualisation together.
